Luxurious private food and wine tours through “The New Wine Country.” I’m Piero Pagliardini, a native of Sant’Angelo in Vado, Marche and I will be your guide on these incomparable cultural vacations. I am also a certified sommelier, and the creator and coordinator of these events. I proudly represented high quality wine in Dallas, TX since 2010. During my time here, I’ve noticed that when people ask me where I’m from no one knows Le Marche (pronounced lay markay), yet everyone knows Tuscany. After a few months of trying to explain where Le Marche was, I finally resorted to introducing myself as “the guy from east
Tuscany.” Tuscany is beautiful and merits its international fame. If you go to Italy, it’s a must-see, but it’s not the ONLY thing to see. I created these tours to show you the best of Italy – known and unknown. Part of the journey is to show you the depths, culture and secret treasures of my home, Le Marche.

Le Marche is home to many little-known jewels. For example, most people associate Italy’s number one delicacy – the precious white truffle— with the northern city of Alba. Not many know about two small towns just a few kilometers apart in Le Marche, Acqualagna and Sant’Angelo in Vado, which have the unique and lucky combination of soil and climate, to produce a large part of the country’s truffles. During the fall, the rich perfume of truffles wafts through the streets of these small villages as they gather and celebrate the
harvest. Some master sommeliers might know Le Marche for the amazing white wine Verdicchio, but only a few will know of the Only Smoked Passito in the World!! Even fewer people still will know there is a unique sweet wine, whose recipe dates back to the renaissance (which I proudly represented in Texas). Vino di Viscole is a sweet wine made from a particularly sour
cherry called “visciola” and is produced only in certain areas of Le Marche.

Or one of our favorite place Castello della Pieve, the characteristic medieval castle set 550 meters above sea level in the municipal area of Mercatello sul Metauro. In 1301 Dante Alighieri’s exile was decreed from this tiny village. Prepare yourselves for a true Marchigiano meal!. How I can not mention the city of URBINO!! With its grandiose architecture went up during the Golden age under the Duke "Federico da Montefeltro"  today is a "UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE".... Also the mysterious of  "The Church of the Dead" in URBANIA...

Day 1

-Arrival (*Rome, FCO or Venice VCE are the recommended airports).

-Piero will meet and escort you to Hotel Taddeo e Federico in the heart of the beautiful village, Sant’Angelo in Vado, within walking distance of shops, markets, restaurants and village life unspoiled by time. We would love to make your experience traveling to Le Marche as easy and convenient from the beginning. Your host, Piero Pagliardini, will meet you at the airport and escort you on our charter bus to a boutique hotel in the heart of the beautiful village, Sant’Angelo in Vado.
The hotel is within walking distance of shops, markets, restaurants, and village life unspoiled by time.


-Take time to settle in, unpack, and explore the village before meeting for an introduction and overview of the week.

-Host and native of Sant’ Angelo, Piero Pagliardini, will welcome you with drinks and give an overview of the week to come. Then pizza night! Enjoy the best pizza in town at an authentic Italian pizzeria.

-Following dinner, a stroll through the village, a nightcap, and a good night’s sleep.

Day 2

-Pastries (or le paste) and cappuccino at your hotel.

-Morning outing to Mercatello sul Metauro, recently honored by the famous ORANGE FLAG!! Expert guide, Beatrice will lead us across town to all the hidden treasures.

-Authentic lunch at Castello della Pieve, the characteristic medieval castle, in the municipal area of Mercatello sul Metauro. In 1301 Dante Alighieri’s exile was decreed from this tiny village.

-Return to Sant’Angelo in Vado.

-Relax and free time to explore on your own.

-Late afternoon private wine tasting at a local winery, and the only maker of smoked passito in the world.

-Piero, a certified Sommelier, will introduce some of the finest Marchigiano wines. From biodynamic reds, such as Pergola Rosso and Sangiovese, dei Colli Pesaresi, to the white, Bianchello del Metauro, named after the river that winds through Le Marche. Piero hand-selects each wine and menu item, and will share with you the basics of wine tasting. Dinner to Follow.

Day 3

-Pastries (or le paste) and cappuccino at your hotel.

-Load up on our private charter bus for a comfortable ride to Urbino.

-Morning Outing to neighboring village of Urbania where you can peruse the travelling open-air market and acclaimed ceramic boutiques. Shop, socialize and taste everything in sight! A two course light lunch provided.

- Afternoon Outing we will drive through the Le Marche countryside for a trip to Cartoceto. Cartoceto is a village famous for the best and only DOP Denominazione di origine protetta” – meaning Protected Designation of Origin, olive oil exported from Le Marche.

-Next, we'll visit the inimitable Vittorio Beltrami, "The Einstein of Cheese," according to Lydia Bastianich, and not just because he looks like Albert Einstein, but because he is a genius cheese maker. His pecorino di fossa - a sheep’s milk cheese wrapped in grape leaves, and buried under stone for 90 days is indescribably intense, earthy and like nothing you have ever tasted. From the cheese cellar, we'll walk over to his shop where the family Beltrami will prepare an in-depth sampling of the Beltrami cheeses, cured meats, and breads, with wine pairings along with house made sweets all for us to savor.


Day 4

- Enjoy a local breakfast of cappuccino and pastries (or le paste) at your hotel.

-Lunch at our favorite restaurant, Ristorante dal Leone

- Return to the Hotel for free time to explore a Roman Villa and/or the “Museo dei mestieri”.

-Dinner on your own, live like a local! Piero will be always around and available to give suggestions and assistance.

Day 5

-Enjoy a local breakfast at the hotel (have you tried the chocolate pastries yet?)

-Early Morning Outing TRUFFLE HUNT with a professional local guide. Our seasoned truffle hunter, along with his dog, will lead us on an autumn walk through the forest in search of truffles. Mud boots will be provided. If hiking isn’t your thing, spend the morning shopping, relaxing in a café and exploring local treasures in the village.

-Time to wash up and then head in to town for the opening of the National White Truffle Festival! Once a year, the town airs out its old wine cellars and turns these secret rooms into re-purposed wine bars. Float from one wine cellar, or cantina to the next, enjoying the variety of local and national wines paired with savory truffle-based delicacies. Each cantina has its own theme – from traditional (eat and drink at long, wooden picnic tables), to indulgent (buy the cantina mug, and enjoy free refills the rest of the weekend), to extreme (these cantine have been known to pack in DJ’s, dance floors, and motorcycles into the limited 100 sq.ft. space). There is something for everyone at the National Festival of White Truffles of Marche and a reason why it has put Sant’Angelo in Vado on the map!

-Lunch at the delicious L’Osteria.

-Explore and enjoy the festivities.

-Meet back up for a truffle-themed group dinner in a cantina.


Day 6

-Breakfast at the hotel

-Morning Outing at the White Truffle Festival. Revel in the town’s festivities which range from street artists, to market booths, to live music. Buy roasted chestnuts on the corner, or crostini with liver pate and truffle shavings from the local butcher.

-Buy souvenirs, gifts and truffle inspired goodies to stash in your suitcase.

-A professional photographer will come to provide a short photo shoot. Each person will receive 5 professionally edited, digital photos to remember your Italian experience.

-Meet that evening for a farewell dinner in one of the oldest cantinas in the village where we will raise a glass (or two, or three!) to a week in Le Marche. Cin-cin, cheers, and a warm salute until next year!

Day 7

-Departures at FCO Rome airport or VCE Venice airport will be offered from 2:00 pm onward. In order to arrive for your flight with ample time, we recommend scheduling departing flights after 4:00 p.m.

Drop-offs and Departures from other locations, or at times outside these parameters can be arranged at an additional fee.
